Sliema Traffic
Malta · Live conditions, incidents and cameras
Sliema is one of the busiest commercial and tourist hubs in Malta. The Strand and Tower Road see almost continuous flow during summer, with chokepoints at the Tigné junction, Gżira Promenade and the approach from Msida.
Use the live map for current flow on The Strand, Tigné Point access, Manwel Dimech Bridge and the Ferries terminus. Cameras around Msida and Pietà give early warning before you commit to the Sliema corridor.
Parking in central Sliema is scarce; the Tigné multi-storey or the Ferries underground are the most reliable spots. Inbound traffic from St Julian's and outbound to Mater Dei tends to back up around the Manwel Dimech Bridge.

Parking
Tigné Point multi-storey is the largest and most reliable paid car park — covered, modern, easy in/out, walkable to everything in central Sliema. Sliema Ferries underground is closer to The Strand but smaller and fills early on summer Saturdays.
Street parking exists but is heavily competed for. The Tower Road end is residents-only on most stretches; the Gżira side has a mix of paid bays and free zones. Park on the wrong block at 09:00 on a weekday and you will be ticketed by 10:00.

Public transport alternatives
Sliema is one of the best-connected towns by bus in Malta. Routes 13, 14, 21 and others run between Sliema Ferries and Valletta every few minutes during the day. Routes north to Buġibba and St Paul's Bay also start here.
The Valletta-Sliema ferry is faster than driving during peak hours and runs every 30 minutes. The Sliema-Cospicua harbour ferry connects to the Three Cities for a different angle.

Yes — the Mater Dei / Msida route is usually faster outside of peak hours. Check our live map: if the Manwel Dimech Bridge is red, take the Msida Valley Road bypass instead.
